As a gay man living in the South, I know firsthand that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in a post-marriage-equality world is far from over.
I support the federal “Equality Act,” which would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in jobs, housing, and public accommodations. LGBTQ+ people need protection, no matter what state they live in.
I support the protection of the right of LGBTQ+ families to adopt; there are so many loving homes waiting for a child to join their family, and so many children dream of a loving home.
In Congress, I will be an advocate for expanding, guaranteeing, and protecting access to reproductive rights, fertility, and family planning for the LGBTQ+ community as well as paid parental leave that protects and affirms diverse families and gender identities.
I want to see Medicare for All ensure transgender, genderqueer, and non-binary individuals full rights and protections, with access to the healthcare that they need.
